Tuesday Mentionings: September 6

Hello! It’s Tuesday! haha, I missed posting yesterday because I had a crazy busy and fun weekend! I hope everyone had a fantastic Labor Day weekend, I know I did!  I have lots of pictures to share from the long weekend.

Saturday, I ran 4 miles with Amy before she left town.  I was then going to run 6 more miles with Chris, but my knee was really acting up, so I ended up biking while he ran, but I did ditch my bike and run 2 miles in the middle with him, so I ended up with 6 miles of running and 4 miles of biking.  Good day!

Sunday morning, Chris and I headed out to the K bright and early for yoga in the outfield of the stadium, before the game.  Mom and I did yoga last year on the outfield, and I was super excited to get the opportunity to do it again!  We ran into Jenn, and hung out with her for the yoga part of the day. The weather was beautiful; the yoga was great, and the morning was just perfect!

We actually got to walk down the tunnel right onto the outfield this year.   It was really neat to walk down through all the field equipment and see the murals on the wall and World Series posters and stuff.

After yoga, we ate breakfast at Rivals, and then watched the grounds crew for a bit before heading to the car to change and wait to get back into the stadium.  We went in and had plenty of time to check out the Hall of Fame, including the 1985 and 2015 World Series trophies, and had a chance to walk around the outfield experience for a bit before heading to our seats.

The Royals and Tigers were playing.. Chris’ team is the Tigers, and mine is the Royals (of course).  Chris joked that we are in a complicated (baseball) relationship. 😛  When the Royals were ahead, Chris made a sad little face, and then when the Royals ultimately lost, I, too, made a sad face.

Monday after a warm Labor Day run, Chris and I hit up the zoo for the afternoon.  We got to see about half of the zoo, we didn’t have time for the Africa section, so we’ll definitely have to go back again.  We had a chance to see the penguins be fed, and watched the sea lion splash show before we left.  It was a lot of fun, I can’t wait to go back to the zoo again!

I’m really excited to go to Wisconsin this next weekend for Kristen’s Ironman and a visit up there. I’m not sure if I’ll have a post next Monday… I’ll try to post a little something, and I’m sure I’ll have lots of pictures on Facebook and Twitter.  Have a great rest of your week, friends!

Yoga Day at the K

Mom is hanging out in town with me this weekend, and among other super fun things we had planned, we had our Sunday scheduled to spend at Kauffman Stadium, first with yoga on the outfield, followed by breakfast with the yogis, and then watching the Royals and the White Sox for the afternoon game.  It. Was. A. BLAST!

We got to the stadium bright and early, just as the sun was coming up.  We got checked in, and hung out with the other yogis before we got to go on the field.  We were there so early, the stadium workers were cleaning and power washing the seats from last night’s game.  That early.

We all marched onto the outfield, and saw Alex Rios playing catch and doing drills.  Later on during the practice, there were a few other players playing catch, and a pitcher warming up.  I couldn’t see who it was, but I have a feeling it may have been Rios and Herrera, since they are still quarantined from the other players due to the Chicken Pox (?) but I’m not sure.  We got our mats all set up and were ready to go!

I’d guesstimate there were about 150-200 yogis on the outfield and about 20 instructors walking around assisting.  The music and main instructor’s mic were played through the stadium speakers, so everything was loud and massive and awesome.

I will say that I spent a lot of time looking around, taking it all in, and not as much time as I should have focusing on my yoga practice… but when else will I be able to do yoga ON THE OUTFIELD of Kauffman Stadium!?

Sue Park taught class, and the practice itself was pretty basic, but considering there were yogis of all backgrounds and abilities, and probably some people who have never practiced before, but wanted to have this amazing opportunity, and the fact that it was already steamy and hot and sunny, the practice was perfect!

After class, we had a bit of time for photo ops and socializing with other yogis.  We did some fun poses in the grass, and I attempted doing some headstands, but without a wall, I kept falling over! I’m making progress though.

LOVED this opportunity!

We made our way to the outfield warning track, and a few other yogis were “jumping into the wall” like Cain making a play… so of course, we had to try too!

Had some more photo ops on the way out off the field, and then made our way past the dugout and out to breakfast.

All in all, yoga on the outfield was an amazing and fun opportunity, and I’m so happy that Mom and I were able to partake.  BUT, we weren’t done with our day! We had a light breakfast, and then had a couple hours to kill before the game.  It was also Mike Sweeney Bobblehead day, and we got a couple bobbleheads on the way in.

We found our seats, which were LUCKILY in the shade!

I found my new “dress,” a $200 Salvy jersey that went halfway down my thighs.

We had to get some treats during the game, and they were quite delicious.

Right after Dyson and Moose homered, we met the Pope!

Most unfortunately, the Royals lost the game, and the series, to the White Sox.  I will definitely keep my eyes out for an opportunity to do yoga on the outfield again, because that was a fun time.

I’ll be sure to recap the rest of our fantastic weekend tomorrow, so be sure to check back!

Monday Mentionings: August 31

When I was younger, I never believed people that said “time flies.”  Now, I can’t believe how fast time truly does fly.  August is over.  Wow.  Lots of fun through this past week, including the first of 4 back to back weekends of races.

Tuesday was speed night at KC Running Co, and we did 1k repeats.  The weather was gorgeous; this weather is not August-like at all.  It’s been a beautiful start to fall, even though it should still feel like summer outside.  Thursday night’s run was lots of fun too.  I’m getting super good at runfies (running selfies), by the way.  I love this group so much.Photo Aug 27, 6 09 44 PMAfter the groupies run, we met up at Barley’s Brewhaus for some Thirsty Thursday fun.Photo Aug 27, 7 52 46 PMI’m titling this picture: Kitty Kontemplates.Photo Aug 28, 6 16 37 PMAnd this one: Mr. Fuzzy Feet.Photo Aug 29, 8 24 48 PMSaturday morning, I ran the Dot to Dot 10k, you can read my race recap here.  After the race, Amy and I spent most of the day together, hanging out, eating pancakes, and running errands. I have races the next 3 weekends, including the final 2 races in the Heartland 30k series, but first, the Labor Day 5k next weekend (Monday), with Mom! Sunday morning, Amy and I ran 5 miles with the group, then met up later for the Weekly Squeeze Yoga class at Lululemon.  Lululemon has a weekly FREE yoga class, every Sunday, at the Leawood location., in case you are in the area and want to give it a try.  Michelle joined us for yoga, and I was beyond excited for Amy and Michelle to finally meet! My two very favorite best friends, together at last.  Yay!  Talk about a fun yoga class!!  After class, Maylo, Amy, Michelle, Renee (another Renee from yoga, I’m not talking about myself in the third person!) and I went to lunch at Spin! Pizza and had a great time together.Photo Aug 30, 1 58 17 PMPhoto Aug 30, 1 34 05 PM

I’m looking forward to a week of work, then a nice long 3 day weekend! Mom is visiting next weekend, and we are doing yoga on the outfield of the K, catching a Royals game, running a 5k, and doing a wine/painting class.  FUN!!!  Have a beautiful week, friends!
