MM: February 13

Happy Monday! Happy Valentine’s Day tomorrow, too, before I forget!  Last week went by pretty quickly, which is good since I still really couldn’t run because of my sprained ankle.  I did run 1 little mile on Tuesday and it felt good, but then my ankle was pretty angry the next day.

We had awards on Thursday at work, like yearbook awards for coworkers. I won best decorated desk. =D

Mom and Dad came to town Friday night, and we were excited to get some donuts at John’s Space Age Donuts.  Mmmmm!  There was an article in the news lately that said John is wanting to sell his donut shop, which has been in business for over 40 years.  They said they aren’t selling anytime soon, when Mom asked on Saturday; he said “someday” not anytime soon.  So take a big sigh, it’s ok!

After donuts, we drove to Wyandotte Co. Lake to show Mom and Dad where our wedding venue is! It was such a gorgeous day, we walked around the hall, but couldn’t go in because there were people in there setting up for a wedding.  We drove around the entire lake before leaving.  I can’t wait to get married here!

After signing up for 2 area 10ks coming up this summer and fall at the running expo, we went for a run! It was 70 degrees, and felt almost hot!!  Dad biked along with us, and my ankle did great!

Jasper was keeping us entertained over the weekend by playing inside and outside.

Saturday night was Grinder’s night! Calzones all around the table.

Sunday morning, Chris and I signed up for another race! We are going to tackle our first marathon, together, this fall in Detroit!  We have all of our races planned for the year, check it my race schedule for this year.

After Mom and Dad left to go home, and Chris went to band practice, I went out to try my ankle for another couple miles, and it did great! It was cooler Sunday than Saturday, but the sun felt good, and there were still lots of people taking advantage of the weather!

MM: January 30

Good morning! It’s been quite the week. I started off last week by being sick, which drug on and on.  I am still sniffling and coughing some, but for the most part, I’m back to normal.

The highlight of the week was going wedding dress shopping on Thursday night! Michelle and Amy and I went and looked at several dresses; I didn’t find the one on Thursday, but I did find my perfect dress yesterday, and it’s now hanging in the guestroom, waiting for November!

I saw this gem in my timehop last week, it’s from 7 years ago, when Jazzy was almost a year old.  He was chilling in the chair with Dad.  And dad had a mustache at the time.  Everything about this picture is awesome.

Over the weekend, we finished packing Chris’ apartment and he’s officially moved in with Jazzy and me now!

We were finally able to get outside for a run, in the sun!  It’s been so gloomy and dark and cold, or we’ve been out with head colds, or busy packing, that we haven’t made it outside for a run in far too long.  We went on the trails and though it was chilly and windy, it was so nice to get some much needed Vitamin D and get a good run in!

Have a great week! PS, how is it FEBRUARY this week!!?

Monday Mentionings: November 7

Monday again, friends! Congrats to everyone who ran the NYC Marathon yesterday! I enjoyed seeing all your tweets and facebook updates throughout the race.

I had a pretty low key week last week, which was nice.  Monday evening, Chris and Jazzy had some bonding time while Chris was playing NHL (notice Jazzy sitting right in front of Chris, watching the TV).

Jazzy has also been super frisky and playful with the cooler weather.  He has been enjoying his tube quite a bit lately. When he’s not sleeping, he’s running around room to room at full speed, or sitting outside watching the squirrels and rabbits.

Speaking of squirrels, I saw a beautiful white squirrel while running last week, and then on Saturday, I saw him again! I don’t know if he’s part albino or what, but he’s definitely MUCH lighter than the normal squirrels around here.  I ran on the trails near my house, and also saw a deer.  I’m pretty sure the buck was down closer to the water.  I’m glad I was able to get my phone out and get a couple pictures.  There have been so many animals out this fall!

It’s November, and I’m still able to run in a tank top.  Insane weather.  This weekend it has finally cooled down a bit, but I was still able to run in tank tops both Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday evening, I went with Chris down to a record store in Westport, where his band opened at another band’s EP release party. It was a small space, but they did great! They have lots of shows coming up (see their upcoming schedule here).

Sunday morning, Chris and I drove out to Shawnee Mission Park to run.  It was such a gorgeous morning, but unfortunately neither of us had great runs.  We got our runs done, and explored a little bit while we were out there.

The weather was so nice, we sat and watched the lake for a bit before leaving.  We had lunch and drove around a bit, then got some ice cream.  Mmmm. Sunday done right.

With the time change yesterday, Jasper was hungry for dinner at 4:30.  He was pretty patient, but did cry and purr and want attention for a little bit before dinner.

I’m looking forward to this weekend, Mom and her friend Denise are driving down to KC and we’ll do the Longview Half Marathon on Saturday.  Runners, be safe running after dark!
