10 Years of Throwbacks

Today is a throwback kind of day! I have 10 photos, one from each of the past 10 years, to share for a Throwback Thursday today! This could also be… 10 years of Renee’s changing hair… haha!

2o06, my family at the Fleharty Family Reunion at my great Uncle’s home in Nebraska:

2007, at a Nebraska football game.  GO BIG RED.  We went to lots of Husker games back in the day:

2008, Kristen and I parasailing in the Gulf of Mexico, when we visited South Padre Island, Texas with my family:

2009, the day I adopted my baby Jasper:

2010, the era of ZUMBA, and my Bestie forever:

2011, at a park in Hays, after we surprised Dad for his 50th birthday:

2012, the year I started running! Mom, Kristen, and I ran the Color Run in KC, my first race:

2013, visiting Reno, Nevada, and my uncle, with Grandpa:

2014, a huge Christmas celebration with the whole Fleharty gang:

2015, the year Amy and I became inseparable, sisters, and bests for life… also, the Plaza 10k was the race where I ran 2 steps behind Amy for about 2 miles, to surprise her in the last quarter mile and to cross the finish line together:

It was a lot of fun looking through old pictures on Facebook, I’ll probably do another throwback post sometime, because I had lots of runner up pictures to share, too… and I had some crazy hair going on in some of them.

What a busy week! At the beginning of the week, I was in Milwaukee! Hard to believe that was just a week ago!  I wrote about my Milwaukee weekend here and here. I got back to KC Tuesday, and Jasper was super happy that I was back.  The snuggles I got were so sweet.  My little bear.Photo Oct 06, 7 52 00 PMThe Royals postseason started Thursday, and KC was painted blue! A building that I pass just about every day had KC lit up on the side, which was pretty cool.  GO ROYALS!Photo Oct 08, 7 29 52 PMMom sent this picture on Saturday, she and Dad had a bit of fun playing dress up with Shay over the weekend.  Mom puts shirts on Gordon sometimes too.  Unfortunately, the Huskers lost again over the weekend.  They’ve got some work to do!Photo Oct 10, 5 17 40 PMSaturday afternoon, my bestie Michelle texted me and asked if I wanted to have a sleepover! Of course, I ddi! I made chili, and Chelle bought over treats and drinks! We had chili, watched TV, played with Jazzy, and had a grand time.  I caught this sunset right before she got here, it was so pretty.Photo Oct 10, 6 59 38 PMJazzy was excited to a sleepover with Michelle, too!Photo Oct 10, 7 00 14 PM

Sunday morning, I ran with Amy at KC Running Co, finishing the week with 27 miles.  Then Belle and I ate at the Big Biscuit, and then I took a nap after she left.  Weekends done right!  Loved our time together!Photo Oct 11, 10 06 32 AMAfter she left yesterday morning, I saw she not only left me my favorite snacks, but also washed our dishes from the night before.  How lucky am I!!Photo Oct 11, 12 24 42 PMI had a quite frustrating afternoon Sunday!  I decided to go ahead and buy the postseason package from MLB TV, so I could watch the Royals…. and I bought it on Apple TV, and it didn’t work…  so then I bought it (again) on the MLB TV website, and it still didn’t work.  I spent over an hour on hold waiting to talk to someone in Customer Service, then talked to someone for less than 1 minute, and finally got a refund from MLB, and am waiting to hear about my refund from apple TV, but it should be processed with no problems.  Lesson learned!  Hope the Royals pull out a win today!!  Go Royals!

Jasper was all about the snuggles again on Sunday afternoon.  I think he could tell that I had a headache and was frustrated with MLB stuff.  Or maybe he just wanted to eat.Photo Oct 11, 2 06 48 PMLooking forward to this weekend, Mom’s coming to town and we are running the KC Half Marathon Saturday! Hoping to get a good PR at this race, I’m as ready as I’ll be, for this race at least!  Good luck to all the KC runners!

Monday Mentionings: September 14

It’s Monday again, already! The weeks have been flying by lately.  Last Monday was Labor Day, and I spent the day with Mom, as she was in town for the long weekend.  Monday morning was the Labor Day 5k, you can read my recap here.12028940_10100333549257183_1313688055_nAfter the race, Mom and I met up with Michelle for lunch and a few errands.  It was a fun day, and a perfect end to a really fun long weekend.  And just for Belle, smile emoticon.12023087_10100333549217263_1568650360_nThursday evening, the group at KC Running Co surprised Amy for her birthday, with cupcakes!  A few of us from the group also pitched in and gifted Amy her first Garmin watch! We ran a nice 3 mile loop, and it was warm, but leaves have been starting to turn and fall.  Autumn is just around the corner!12000064_10100333549222253_1501297195_n11998506_10100333549252193_277363201_nSaturday morning, Amy and I went to run at Shawnee Mission Park, which is something we’ve wanted to do for a while.  It was the most perfect, gorgeous, beautiful morning.  Amy got to break out her new watch, and we ran 4.1 (for Amy’s 41st birthday, on Saturday) beautiful miles around the lake.11998541_10100333549272153_1708184176_n11998491_10100333549232233_1721676381_n12026549_10100333549277143_1532000676_nAfter our run, we met Amy’s husband and son for lunch at Culver’s, which was delicious.11998541_10100333549207283_1867208315_nWhile Amy celebrated her birthday, my Dad also celebrated his birthday, with Mom, in Lincoln, at the Huskers game!  They are birthday twins! Happy Birthday Dad!11933492_10155979693985333_3856933831489124887_nSaturday night, Amy and I got back together, and ventured over to Lee’s Summit to look for a visor, which is the most comfortable and perfect visor ever, and had no luck finding it, even though the store said it had “limited quantity.”  Note: the store said limited quantity means it is not in stock, but the product number is still in the computer.  That’s not what “limited quantity” means to me, or the rest of the world… Alas, we did a bit of shopping and had dinner at On the Border.  PS, I’m not sure who started the thumbs up first, but it’s become our signature pose.11998363_10100333549242213_1006958259_nSunday morning came very early.  The second of three 10k races was yesterday morning.  Jasper wasn’t too happy about me waking him up at 5:20.  The Plaza 10k race recap will be up later this week, once the official photos are released, because I’m hoping a couple of them are really good!12021768_10100333549267163_152221374_nAmy and I finished the race together, hand in hand. I’ll write more in the recap, but it was really special, and meant a lot, especially with a 4+ minute 10k PR!11997320_10100333549212273_1330869848_nI was looking through my last year’s Plaza 10k pictures, and see a lot of change in myself compared to last year.  More on that, later.  Last year’s race recap is here.12021752_10100333549237223_1733448391_nSunday afternoon, I had a lovely little nap, with this little fur baby.  The weather has been cooler through the weekend, and he’s been way more playful, but also more snuggly.12000069_10100333549227243_552436867_nAnd for some reason, he decided not to sit in his chair (yes, that is HIS rocking chair… he is visibly distraught if someone sits in HIS chair), and squatted on the end table for awhile yesterday evening.  Weirdo.12025356_10100333549247203_767835272_nHave a great week, friends! Fall weather is HERE!
