Monday Mentionings: August 15

HI! I have a quick little post today!

I had a pretty busy weekend last weekend with family visiting.  My aunt, uncle, and cousin left last Monday afternoon.  Before they left, we made a visit to Scheels and mad sure to ride the carousel while we were there.

After Scheels, we took Ava to Sky Zone, and she had a BLAST jumping on the trampolines and into the foam pit.  We basically had to drag her away!  Next time, I definitely want to jump too!

Tuesday through Thursday were pretty uneventful.  I’ve been watching the Olympics a lot, and got in some good runs.  Thursday morning, I made kind of a last minute decision to go home to Hays for the weekend.  I took Jasper with me, because I always feel so bad leaving him when I go.  For the most part, he did well.  One little hiccup in the middle of the night Friday night, but other than that, he did ok!

I had tons of my favorites while I was home.  Snoballs, an hombre and salsa from Guiterrez, Lamato’s pizza with cream cheese and canadian bacon, a Q burger.  Mmmmmmm.

Mom and I got in a couple runs while I was home, too.  It’s really sad to not be able to run with Shay anymore, I definitely missed having her with us.  Lucy tried to cuddle a bit after our run on Sunday.

I spent some time with Grandma and Granddad Sunday before I left. Tiger kept nipping at Grandma.

It was a great weekend, but went too fast, as always.  I came home Sunday afternoon with Jazzy, and here it is, Monday again!  While I was home, I bought the orange sign in the picture below.  I’ve always loved this saying, and I love it right by my medals!

Happy Birthday today MOM!! ❤

I’d better get back to work! Have a great week, friends!! I have not one, but two 5ks coming up on Saturday, so it’ll be another busy weekend coming up!

Monday Mentionings: May 30

What a week! I can’t believe it’s Monday again, let alone Memorial Day! Happy Memorial Day to everyone, thank you to all who have served.

Last Monday, I ended up having to stay at work a bit longer to help a client on the phone.  I missed going to cycle class, so I headed out for 4 solo miles instead.  It’s been raining so much lately, and it was pretty humid, so I had a few minutes after my run in the shade of this gigantic and beautiful tree.

The tree was just so gorgeous in the sunlight.

Tuesday night, Amy and I ran a few miles, and then I relaxed with Jasper.  I also had a bit of reflection about my last day of my 20s, because Wednesday, I was going to turn 3o!

Wednesday was my birthday!  I ran with Amy in the morning, had a carrot cake at work, and had dinner and went to a painting class with Amy and Michelle after work. It was the perfect day!

I also got my new medal holder in the mail this past week.  My previous medal holder was full! I ended up putting all my half marathon medals on the opposite wall.  Now I have lots of new spots to fill up on my new holder!  Both of the medal holders are from Running on the Wall.  I love how everything turned out.Photo May 29, 8 49 27 PM.jpg

Friday, after work, I drove home to Hays for the long weekend.  This sight will always mean I’m home.

Saturday morning, I headed out for 5 solo miles, before Mom joined me for the final 2 miles.  I hoped to run 8 miles, but I was pretty wiped out after my 5 miles, and only managed 2 more! Half marathon #10 is in less than a week!  Anyway, while I was running, I ran a bit on the bypass, and had to stop and take a selfie with the horses.

After we were finished, we took Shay on a short little walk.  She’s been limping with a sore back leg, so she can’t run with us, but she sure wanted to.

After our run, I finally got my snoball! YAS!  Cervs is the best.

Mom and I had lunch with Ava at The Q, another of Hays’ best.  We went topless in Mom and Dad’s bug.

Saturday night, we went to Jalisco’s for my birthday dinner.  I was able to stretch my birthday through the weekend!  I was even given a birthday shot, wahoo! HAH!

Sunday morning, Mom and I ran a few miles, and then took Shay for a short walk.  Sweet girl.  After our run and walk, Mom and I went to the cemetery in Munjor.   Something amazing that happened: So last fall, Mom put an electronic solitaire game out at Grandpa’s grave, because he loved playing his solitaire game.  While we were at the cemetery yesterday, we rearranged some things, and Mom picked up the solitaire game, and it started dinging the WIN WIN WIN sound, and even showed the WIN on the screen.  It has been oustide in the cold, snow, and in the hot, rain, wind, dirt, for over 6 months, and the dang thing turned on, and had a WIN!  I guess Grandpa’s been playing solitaire out there. =)

Sunday afternoon, we watched the Royals win (for the third straight game of being down and coming back in the last few innings!!)  Mom and Dad were cooking/grilling for dinner, but first, Belle and I went to get a snoball on Sunday afternoon.  Mmmmm. So good!

Grandma and Granddad came over to eat burgers, brats, corn on the cob, and cheesy potatoes.  MMMM!!! So much great food over the weekend.  Granddad had fun playing with my snapchat.   Love this so much.

After dinner, Michelle came over (her parents live at the opposite end of the same block as my parents), and Steve, Leann, and Ava came over too, for dessert.  When it was time for Belle to go home, we went topless in the bug again for a little joy ride!

It was the perfect end to a wonderful weekend, and the best way to end a birthday week! I’ll be going home this afternoon, and already can’t wait to come back again for the 4th of July! Did you have a nice Memorial Day weekend? Have a great week!

Thursday Thoughts: January 8

Happy Thursday friends!  I’ve recently started utilizing my Facebook page for My Brave Wings, previously I only posted my articles on my personal site.  I’m trying to build my audience, and I’d love if you could “like”my page and share it with your friends!

My sister got some fun things for Christmas, and added them to her fun and awesome running wall! On the left is her map to track her 50 state half marathon journey.  She’s working toward running a half marathon in each state, and is sticking a pin in each state as she goes!  I got her the medal holder last year for Christmas, and she’s already filled it up! On the right is a chalkboard with her PR’s, and total mileage so far for 2015 (this was taken on the 2nd or 3rd of January, so I’m sure she’s already way higher than 14.75 miles)!  I LOVE her wall!

Jazzy and I had lots of snuggle time last weekend, it was so nice to finally have a weekend at home with no traveling, no events, no craziness! Don’t get me wrong, I loved being home for 2 weeks for Christmas, and visiting home several times in the fall, but I’m really glad to be back normal.

James got this awesome Buddha Board for Christmas, and he’s been drawing every day on it! The idea is really unique, it uses nothing but water – you draw on the board with the special brush dipped in water, and after a few seconds (or a few minutes if you get it more wet), it evaporates off the board and you can draw again.  I’ve drawn a few times too, it’s really freeing knowing that your drawing will disappear.

I have seen this quote many times over the last few years, and I love it! Mom got me a little board with this saying on it also, it sits on my dresser.  This one below is so colorful, it motivates me every day!

Last night, I went to yoga for the first time in KC.  I haven’t gone to a yoga class since I lived in Hays, and it was challenging and fun and I loved it!  I went to Life Spring Yoga, and met a fabulous teacher, Maylo.  I can’t wait to go back next week.  I am a little sore today especially in my back and shoulders, but it’s such a good sore!  I still have my goal of doing a handstand, and I feel confident Maylo and Life Spring Yoga can help me get there!

I am also SO excited to get back to KCRC tonight, it has been nearly a month since I went to a Thursday night Groupie’s run.  It’s been so cold out lately, I hope it’s not cancelled tonight, but if it is, I’ll just get in some quality time with the good ol’ Treadmill.

I saw this cartoon yesterday and laughed so hard! This is JUST like Jasper!

Have an amazing weekend! Stay WARM! Do you run outside when it’s super cold? How cold is too cold?
