Monday Mentionings: December 26

Merry Christmas!!!! I hope everyone enjoyed a family filled weekend with good treats and the best company.  I have a few photos to share today, as I travel back home to KC.

Chris, Jasper, and I celebrated Christmas early last week, because we had a busy week and then we both went opposite directions for Christmas.  Jasper had more fun playing with the tissue paper than with his jingly ball and crunchy turtle, but I’m sure he’ll get around to playing with them too.

Sisser and Thayne came to KC Thursday night, and we had Joe’s KC BBQ, of course.  It was tasty, as always. I had my first Z-Man sandwich, with chicken instead of pork.  Tasty!

I drove home Friday after work, and Jazzy was my travel pal.  Chris drove up to Detroit, and I’ll be flying up later this week to meet his family and ring in the New Year in Eastern Standard Time!

Friday night, we chilled at home after having nachos and margaritas. I helped Mom and Dad set up their new iPhones!

On Christmas Eve, we spent most of the day at Grandma and Granddads, having pizza, opening gifts, and playing games.  It’s always great to spend time with family, and I’m so thankful for this family.

Later in the afternoon, Mom and I ran, it was beautiful out! I even ran in shorts… ON CHRISTMAS EVE!  I was getting chilly by the end, as the sun was about to set, but it was so beautiful outside.  I was dressed in gray, and Mom was dressed in Santa and Sparkles.  And a jingle bell, that jingled with every single step of our 3 mile run.

Jazzy has been adapting to the life of travel pretty well.  He’s not allowed out with the other kitties, because there have been fights in the past, and I really don’t want blood spilled! He’s been able to roam the house on several occasions, either when Mom and Dad’s kitties are outside or with different rooms barricaded off to keep them separated.

Christmas morning was spent with Mom, Dad, Kristen, and Thayne, and rotating kitties in and out of the living room.  We opened gifts and had cinnamon rolls for breakfast.

Later in the afternoon, after a freak Christmas Day thunderstorm, I went out for a run, and Mom joined in partway through.  It was SO windy outside, but sunny after the storm.  It was really nice to see no cars at any businesses.  I saw a few people outside walking, and I even saw a Santa riding a motorcycle, but I didn’t see any fellow runners.

Christmas night we had pheasant and cheesy potatoes, which is probably my very favorite meal ever, and watched football, played with phones, and enjoyed the fireplace.

I’m really excited to fly to Detroit to meet Chris’ family.  The holidays are so special to me, and I’m so thankful to be able to see everyone I love and spend time just being together.  I’m not sure if I’ll have a post next Monday, so if I don’t get a chance to post, be sure to have a safe and happy New Year!!

Monday Mentionings: May 23

Another week has come and gone!  Last Monday, my parents went home after I left for work.  It drizzled and rained all day, and I cleaned up the apartment and relaxed after work.  I was sad to see my parents and sister leave, but I think Jasper was happy to have his peace and quiet back.  I’m thankful that I’ll be able to travel home this weekend for Memorial Day, and then a couple weeks later, I’ll visit Kristen in Milwaukee for a long weekend.

Tuesday, the sun came out! I ran 4 miles after work, and it was a pretty good run!

Wednesday, I was planning on meeting Amy after my chiropractor appointment, and running a few miles.  Well, that didn’t quite happen.  At 4:53pm, she texted me and said she could get 2 tickets for the Royals game that was supposed to be on Monday, but was rained out.  I could tell Amy wasn’t super excited to go, but being the best she is, I talked her into it, and we had a really great time!

We got some amazingly delicious Royal ‘Ritas to kick things off.  We saw some of Amy’s coworkers, and met up with some friends we knew at the game too.

I even met KayCee Baseball! You can read a really neat story about him here.

Amy and I had a great time.  I think it was just what Amy needed, even though she didn’t want to go in the first place.  We obviously didn’t end up running on Wednesday night, but that’s ok! Go Royals!

Thursday night was Groupie night! Amy, Mark, and I had a great little run and chat, it was a perfect Thursday night!

Thursday night after our run, I was trying very hard to write my race recap for Running with the Cows, but someone wanted to snuggle instead, so I had to take a break and snuggle.  He is seriously the most adorable.

Saturday morning, after running, Amy and I met up and had a Joe’s date.  MMMMMmmmm!!!  Lots of errands followed, and it was a fun afternoon with my best.

Sunday morning, after 8 hard earned miles, Amy and I had the most amazing and brilliant breakfast idea ever.  We couldn’t decide if we wanted sweet or savory, so we ordered 2 chocolate chip pancakes, and a ham and green pepper omelet, and split it! Like I said, brilliant.  It was the most perfect and best breakfast ever after those 8 miles.

Have a great week, friends! After a long or hard workout, what’s your meal of choice?

Monday Mentionings: April 11

Another Monday, another post! Last week was a great week, let’s jump right in!

On Monday, I met up with Thayne for dinner; he was in KC for opening day on Sunday, then flew out Tuesday for a work meeting.  It was nice to see him, it’s been since Christmas! Thayne, did you give Kristen her hug from me? We went to Joe’s KC BBQ, and it was delicious, as always.

Jazzy has been leaving Michelle toys several times per week.  So precious, that little kitty, and his love for Michelle.  She’s moving to her new place this weekend; Jasper and I will both miss her like crazy, but I know we will see her often!

We finished off the Amaretto Slushies last week, so tasty!  The weather has been warmer, which means Jasper hasn’t been snuggling as much lately – he likes to snuggle when it’s cold out.  I soaked up every minute of snuggle time I had last week.

This is what I see every morning while I’m getting ready for work.  He sits patiently while I get ready, then about 5 minutes before I’m ready to go, he starts crying, to make sure I don’t forget to give him his morning treats.  So spoiled, this one.

This tweet exchange cracked me up so much.  Kristen wrote about hedgehogs in the wild, and our Granddad’s response is just too funny.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Photo Apr 07, 8 41 25 PM

There were hot dog races at work last Friday, which cracked me up.  Some of the guys from the building next to us had the races, and we stood by the window in our building to watch them.  I love love love the place I work!  We work hard, but play hard too!

This may be a dangerous search.  I’m contemplating trying a duathlon this summer/fall! Have you ever done a duathlon or triathlon? Should I go for it??  I’m also looking at trail races for this summer/fall!

Saturday morning, bright and early (and cold), was Rock the Parkway, my first half marathon of the year.  I will have a race recap up later this week, once the race pictures are posted, but I wanted to share a couple pictures with you – pre and post race.  It wasn’t a PR for me, but it was for Amy, and for several of my friends, which was so great, and I finished with my second best half marathon time!

Then, several hours and a painful shower later, this happened…

I think Jasper’s most favorite thing ever is sitting in/on all the places he isn’t supposed to be.  He has probably sat on everything possible in Michelle’s room.  I think he’s just trying to make sure all of his extra fur goes with her to her new apartment.

Last night, after yummy fajitas and quesadillas, Michelle and I decided we needed some good old fashioned TCBY.  We made the trip to Prairie Village, and had a very strange TCBY experience, but the ice cream was yummy, and that made up for it!  What’s your favorite froyo flavor?

Have a great week friends!
