MM: June 5

Happy Monday! Once again it’s been 2 weeks since my last Monday Mentionings post… last Monday Chris and I were in Hays for the long Memorial Day weekend.  Let’s jump right in with a sentence or two per picture!

We are moving to our new townhome in a couple weeks, so we got to packing over these last 2 weeks. Jasper was sure to pack the most important thing first: himself.

A couple weeks ago we also got to try wedding cakes! Delicious.

I also celebrated my birthday a couple weeks ago! My work family had lots of fun surprises for me, and then Chris took me out to one of my favorite restaurants and spoiled me like he’s so good at doing.

My favorites.

Over Memorial Day weekend, Chris and Michelle and I drove to Hays to see family! Belle happened to be planning on going to Hays anyway, so we had a little road trip together! We hydrated properly with Starbucks at the halfway point of the drive, and then snoballs as soon as we got to Hays.

I still can’t run because of my knee issues, but I was able to take a fun walk with Mom and Skye on Sunday morning.

Followed by more snoballs and fun with my favorite people before heading back to KC.

Last week, Chris and I went to the Royals/Tigers game – Chris had bought tickets for my birthday. Most unfortunately, Detroit won. =P

This past Saturday, Chris and I walked the Hospital Hill 10k at Crown Center. I had never done the HH 10k before, but I’ve done the half twice. I really enjoyed the 10k, and hope to be able to run it next year!

For the rest of this weekend, Chris and I packed and meal prepped, and Jasper helped, as always.

I’m really excited for the weekend to come, we are going to Detroit!

Monday Mentionings: December 26

Merry Christmas!!!! I hope everyone enjoyed a family filled weekend with good treats and the best company.  I have a few photos to share today, as I travel back home to KC.

Chris, Jasper, and I celebrated Christmas early last week, because we had a busy week and then we both went opposite directions for Christmas.  Jasper had more fun playing with the tissue paper than with his jingly ball and crunchy turtle, but I’m sure he’ll get around to playing with them too.

Sisser and Thayne came to KC Thursday night, and we had Joe’s KC BBQ, of course.  It was tasty, as always. I had my first Z-Man sandwich, with chicken instead of pork.  Tasty!

I drove home Friday after work, and Jazzy was my travel pal.  Chris drove up to Detroit, and I’ll be flying up later this week to meet his family and ring in the New Year in Eastern Standard Time!

Friday night, we chilled at home after having nachos and margaritas. I helped Mom and Dad set up their new iPhones!

On Christmas Eve, we spent most of the day at Grandma and Granddads, having pizza, opening gifts, and playing games.  It’s always great to spend time with family, and I’m so thankful for this family.

Later in the afternoon, Mom and I ran, it was beautiful out! I even ran in shorts… ON CHRISTMAS EVE!  I was getting chilly by the end, as the sun was about to set, but it was so beautiful outside.  I was dressed in gray, and Mom was dressed in Santa and Sparkles.  And a jingle bell, that jingled with every single step of our 3 mile run.

Jazzy has been adapting to the life of travel pretty well.  He’s not allowed out with the other kitties, because there have been fights in the past, and I really don’t want blood spilled! He’s been able to roam the house on several occasions, either when Mom and Dad’s kitties are outside or with different rooms barricaded off to keep them separated.

Christmas morning was spent with Mom, Dad, Kristen, and Thayne, and rotating kitties in and out of the living room.  We opened gifts and had cinnamon rolls for breakfast.

Later in the afternoon, after a freak Christmas Day thunderstorm, I went out for a run, and Mom joined in partway through.  It was SO windy outside, but sunny after the storm.  It was really nice to see no cars at any businesses.  I saw a few people outside walking, and I even saw a Santa riding a motorcycle, but I didn’t see any fellow runners.

Christmas night we had pheasant and cheesy potatoes, which is probably my very favorite meal ever, and watched football, played with phones, and enjoyed the fireplace.

I’m really excited to fly to Detroit to meet Chris’ family.  The holidays are so special to me, and I’m so thankful to be able to see everyone I love and spend time just being together.  I’m not sure if I’ll have a post next Monday, so if I don’t get a chance to post, be sure to have a safe and happy New Year!!

Monday Mentionings: November 28

Good morning and happy Monday! I had the most wonderful Thanksgiving weekend, most of the photos I have to share this week are from Thanksgiving in Hays. Monday and Tuesday, I ran with Amy and with Chris, respectively.  It’s dark before I get off work now, so running is done by the light of our headlamps.

Kristen, Thayne, Chris, and I loaded up in the car and drove home Wednesday after work.  It was a fun car ride, and it was nice for Kristen and Thayne to get to know Chris a little.  Thursday  morning, Mom, Kristen, Chris and I ran before our Thanksgiving meal. We joked with Chris that he didn’t get the “wear gray and a hat” memo.

After our run, before dinner, we got snoballs! Mmmm!!!

photo-nov-24-11-28-41-am

Thanksgiving dinner was wonderful. Grandma and Granddad came over, and we ate a beautiful dinner of turkey ham, macaroni corn, dressing, rolls, and apple salad.  There was mashed potatoes and gravy too, but I didn’t partake in that.  Kristen had made 3 delicious pies before we went home Wednesday, so we also had pecan, apple, and sweet potato pies.  It was so great to spend time with everyone, it was such a great day.

Friday morning, I ran a few miles solo, before running some errands with Kristen, Thayne, and Chris.

photo-nov-25-10-52-33-am

We took Chris to Taco Shop for the first time! We also hung out with Ava a bit and did some shopping.  We didn’t do any big Black Friday shopping, but did check out some local stores in Hays.  Dad scored a great deal on a TV, and the story was pretty funny, listening to them tell how they beat the crowds and cheated some lines was pretty comical.

photo-nov-27-7-55-14-pm

Friday afternoon, just as the sun was setting, we went out to Munjor to visit Grandma and Grandpa at the cemetery.  Kristen took this picture, and it was really pretty out there, and so very quiet.

photo-nov-25-6-02-41-pm

Saturday, late in the morning, Chris and I headed out for our long run, and Mom joined us for part of it.  At our turnaround point, Chris saw his very first real life tumbleweed.  He said “it’s literally tumbling across the road” and I about lost it laughing.  We had to take a picture, to always remember this monumental event.  I ended up running 8 miles and Chris ran 7.  It was a much nicer run than last week’s long run, which was just a rough run for both of us.

photo-nov-27-7-54-46-pm

Saturday night, we went to the Q for burgers, and that’s about all I need to say. So. Good.

photo-nov-26-6-25-04-pm

We hung out Saturday night, put up the Christmas tree at home, watched some TV, and Chris played his guitar for everyone.  Earlier Saturday, he also played it for Grandma and Granddad; we spent some time with them before they went to the FHSU basketball game.  I really enjoyed the extra time and being able to spend time with everyone.

photo-nov-26-10-07-18-pm

Sunday morning, the 4 of us headed back to KC, for Kristen and Thayne to catch their flight.  I put up a few Christmas decorations at home when we got back, and was able to relax the rest of the evening.

I really hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving with family and friends.  It’s so hard to believe that December is this week!
