Monday Mentionings: February 29

Happy Leap Day! This last week was a petty boring week, followed by a pretty busy and fun weekend!  First, Michelle has been out of town for a couple days, and I think Jasper misses her. Such as sweet boy.

Saturday morning, Amy and I cycled together at my normal Saturday cycle class.  What a workout! We conquered the hills and raced through the sprints.

After cycle, we attempted a run.  It was derailed by a trip and fall by yours truly about a half mile into the run.

Shortly after our failed run attempt, I was heading to meet up with Carmen for lunch, and had to stop in the middle of College Blvd. for the geese to cross the road.  They did not use the cross walk, and did not not heed to traffic.

So I met Carmen for lunch at Joe’s KC, MMMM good!  We caught up on life, had some delicious BBQ, and definitely have to get together again soon.

Carmen and I also stopped at Pottery Barn, and I scored this adorable pillow for my couch! I just fell in love with it!

After I left Carmen, I watched Race, which was a great movie about Jesse Owens’ Olympic journey in the 1930s, it was very good, and made me want to get out and run! So after I got home, I ran a few miles to make up for my trip and fall from earlier on Saturday.

Sunday, I ran with Amy, and then we went to brunch.  Later, I had an appointment to get the tattoo on my foot touched up, as the ink near my big toe kind of peeled when it healed.  I’ve been wanting to get it fixed for several months; after a conversation with a coworker, I made an appointment with her tattoo artist, and got it all taken care of.  He touched up the entire tattoo on my foot, as well as made the colors pop more brightly.  I also got a small tattoo on my wrist “with my brave wings,” that I’ve been thinking about for a while now.  I’m very pleased at how it all turned out!

Here’s a picture of Jasper, because I think he’s the most popular on my blog.  😛  Have a wonderful week, friends!

Thursday Thoughts: Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!!  I hope everyone enjoys a relaxing day with family and friends, and NOT shopping! Shopping is for Friday, folks!  I do wish you and yours the happiest and merriest of Thanksgivings, enjoy the time with the ones you love.

Last weekend, James and I went to the clubhouse at our apartment complex, and had a chili lunch, it was really tasty.  It’s been quite a while since either of us had chili. They were missing the cinnamon rolls though! I think it must be a German thing, having cinnamon rolls with chili.  I’ll have to tell them for next time. 😉Photo Nov 22, 12 30 59 PM

On Saturday, I ran a loop that included stopping by the little pond where my buddy Edgar the Swan lives.  I didn’t really know if swans migrate like geese, so I figured I’d run by and see if he was still hanging around.  He was.  He wasn’t happy to be sharing his little pond with a bunch of migrating Canadian Geese.  He was sure to chase me and bite at the rocks.

The geese were sure to stay on the other side of the pond, away from Edgar.  When Edgar tried to follow after me, the geese took off and landed on the other side of the pond, and then flip flopped it again as he followed me back up the path.  I was lucky enough to get a picture of a goose flying/running away from Edgar.

Jasper and Toothless.  This picture makes me giggle with glee.  I put Toothless on top of Jazzy’s cube, out of the way, and later Jasper curled up underneath.  Adorable.

Also adorable… when Jasper doesn’t realize his tongue is sticking out while he’s sleeping.

As a surprise to take home for Thanksgiving, I baked my very first 2 pies this week!  I have baked pies before, but it’s always been under Kristen and Mom’s instruction.  Kristen has taught me Grandma’s pie crust over the last few holidays, and I was really glad to be able to replicate it.

Aside from burning the crusts a little bit, and having to throw out the first batch of pie crust because it was too dry and flaky, I think they turned out pretty good, and hopefully they taste good too!  Cherry pie is my very favorite kind of pie. I can’t wait to have some this weekend with both sides of my family.
