Monday Mentionings: August 8

I feel like this last week went fast, and the weekend went super fast! It’s Monday again, so here we go!

I got some fancy candies at work from a client last week, which was really nice of them to do for me.  I shared them with the floor, so everyone got some chocolates.

Thursday night at KC Running Co., we finished our VERY HOT run and were given some delicious watermelon afterwards.  Watermelon after a run is just one of those perfect combinations.

Friday, after work, my Aunt Leann, Uncle Steve, and cousin Ava came to KC to visit for the weekend.  Saturday, we did a bit of shopping at Oak Park Mall, and Ava and I had lots of carousel rides too.

After fun at the mall, we hit up the pool.  Ava is quite the little fish in the water.

Saturday evening, we went to the Royals game…. Ava’s first Royals game!  She had lots of fun watching the Boys in Blue win against Toronto.  She cheered for the mustard hot dog during the hot dog derby, but relish won.  [Ava was reading along as I was writing this post, and she said “But they were in white, not blue!! Leann and I cracked up, she has quite the reading comprehension going on!]

She even got a “first game certificate” from the Royals Guest Services team.  I’d say she’s a new lifetime Royals fan.

Leann and I got my favorite Royal ‘Ritas.  Mmmm tasty!

Ava and I had more carousel time in the Outfield Experience.  The weather for the game couldn’t have been more perfect Saturday night.  It was very cool for August and breezy.  Perfect weather.

After the Royals won(!!!), Ava did a bit more playing in the outfield before we headed back to my apartment.  I didn’t realize you could see the World Series Champs sign from the outfield experience area.  Just in case you forgot, ‘dem Roys won the World Series last year!!

Sunday, we ventured out to Chuck E Cheese’s for lunch.  Ava won lots of tickets, gave Chuck E  Cheese a hug and a high five, and we left with bellies full of pizza and Ava cashed in her tickets for a Chuck E Cheese ball to take home.

Leann and I spent our tokens playing Skee Ball.

After some more shopping, we went back to my apartment for some relaxation time.   Jasper enjoyed his new catnip plant.

Once our energy levels were back up, Ava and I went down to the park to play for a bit.

We met up with some of Steve and Leann’s friends for dinner, then we got some yummy custard at Sheridan’s.  It was a great end to the weekend.

Today, we’ll hang out a bit more before Steve, Leann, and Ava head back to Hays this afternoon.

I don’t have too much planned for this week.  I’ll try to get in some runs while the weather is nice and unseasonably cool.  Have a great week, friends!!

Thursday Thoughts: March 19

To make up for last Thursday’s short post, today’s Thursday Thoughts is extra long! Maybe not extra long, but definitely longer than last week, and I have a lot of pictures to share!

I went home over the weekend to spend some quality time with family.  Mom was a bit under the weather, so I ran with my best girl on Saturday, which happened to be PI DAY!  Shay and I ran 3.14 miles in celebration.  Sunday I ran 5 miles, then picked Shay up for another 2 miles.  Happy Birthday to Shay, who turned 9 years old yesterday!Photo Mar 14, 9 52 19 AM

Later on Pi Day, I went to lunch with Mom and my aunt Leann and cousin Ava, and of course, we had pie for dessert.  Delish.  After lunch and pie, Ava and I went and got pedicures.  Ava was even lucky enough to get a mini-manicure.  We had a fun afternoon of pampering and girl talk, and got a snowball also!

My Running Buddy Pouch came in the mail too this past weekend! Running Buddy was awesome enough to send me a complimentary Buddy Pouch, and I accepted their request to become a Brand Ambassador for them.  I truly love their product, and I’ll be sure to write a post this weekend about the company and my ambassadorship.  You can read my review of the Running Buddy Pouch here, and check out their website here.

While I was home for the weekend, I seemed to acquire a little orange and white shadow named Gordon  This little one followed me around and slept with me all night on Friday night, and for a bit of the night Saturday night.  He likes to burrow and snuggle under blankets or in between pillows.  He sure is adorable.

I missed Jasper while I was in Hays, but James sent me a few pictures to make sure I knew he was ok.  I love when he turns his head upside down, his little fangs hang out in the most adorable and deadly way.

After I got back to KC, Jazzy was sure to sniff all over my shoes to see where I went while I was in Hays.  Notice my sweet new Adidas Ultra Boost shoes! I bought them (partially) with my gift card that I won from the KC Running Company Martin City Groupie run night a couple weeks ago.

On Tuesday night, I went to the speed workout at KC Running Company. It didn’t turn out to be much of a speed workout for Amy and me, because Amy was a badass and ran a trail half marathon last weekend and was still recovering, and my right glute and right hamstring have been giving me some trouble the last couple weeks.  We ended up running at a nice tempo pace, a bit faster than we are used to, but definitely the progression run that was on the schedule.  That’s just one more reason I love KCRC, they are SO accepting, encouraging, and AMAZING!  Read my other reasons why I love KCRC and the Groupies here.

I also have some throwback pictures to share today.  These are from WAY back.  The top left is Michelle, me, Bethany, and Elise, at homecoming (I think) our Freshman or Sophomore year.  The top right is from middle school or high school (?) from a band trip to Estes Park.  I also found all of their senior pictures (L to R Michelle, Bethany, Elise) while packing up some boxes the other night.  We all look so young, so innocent!

Last night, I made it back to yoga after missing a couple weeks, and it was a tough class.. kicked my butt!  Tonight, I’m going to the Groupie run with KCRC, and Iron Tribe Fitness is incorporating some crossfit training into the run.  That should be fun, I’m sure I’ll feel it this weekend!

Did you celebrate Pi Day or St. Patrick’s Day?
