Monday Mentionings: December 5

Monday! Happy December everyone! Christmas is 20 days away!!  Last Monday evening, I wrapped some Christmas gifts, and Jasper was happy to help with the ribbons and bows.  He’s been enjoying sitting and licking the tree and/or batting at decorations just about every night.

Friday night, I went to Chris’ band practice with him, and spent a good majority of the evening playing with snapchat filters while they played.

Saturday morning, Chris and I ran hill repeats (his very first time running hill repeats!) and they were pretty awful, as hills tend to be.  But we got them out of the way, and then had some delicious burgers and went grocery shopping.

Saturday evening, we ventured down to Crown Center, and checked out the Union Station Christmas tree and some of the shops at Crown Center.  Chris hadn’t been to the Crown Center area, so it was cool to check out the sights, and it was really pretty with all the Christmas lights.

Then we went ice skating! I’ve been ice skating twice before, and Chris has skated hundreds of times, if not thousands.  Since he grew up in Michigan, he said he has been skating since he’s been able to walk.  Needless to say, I didn’t completely make a fool of myself… I didn’t even fall, not even once!

It was a lot of fun skating around for a couple hours.  I had to take lots of breaks because my ankles and legs were getting tired, but I think Chris would still be there if I would have let him stay! He probably could have skated all night.

Look at me, not even falling!  There were TONS of people falling, and I masterfully evaded all the fallers, even when they were falling right around me.  +10 points for agility.

After we skated, we walked around a bit more and grabbed some dinner at Panera, then went down to the Plaza to walk around and check out the Christmas lights there.

Sunday morning, we ran, and were sore a bit from skating the night before. After we ran, we drove up to St. Joseph for his band’s practice with a different drummer. It was a nice Sunday drive.

Last night, I finished up Christmas cards and got ready for the week.  My work’s Christmas party is this Friday, so I’m looking forward to that, and Chris’ band has a show Saturday night also, so it’ll be a fun weekend!

Monday Mentionings: December 7

It’s Monday again.  I feel like the weeks are getting faster and faster.  2 and a half short weeks until Christmas!

Last Tuesday, I went to my new gym, and signed up! My new job has a corporate membership with the Overland Park Athletic Club, and I get a membership at a really great price.  It’s close to home and has so much more to offer than my apartment’s clubhouse gym.  I was excited to try it out, so Tuesday I ran on the Woodway Treadmill (EEEK! They have Woodways!) and then did some lower body weights.  Let me tell you.  I overdid it a bit, and my legs were so sore for two days.  I’m excited to be able to use the gym again a few times a week.

I work really close to home now, which is just fantastic.  I’ve been there for three weeks now, and have learned so much in such a short time.  The office I work in overlooks a beautiful lake, so I wanted to snap a picture to share.

I finally got a few personal things together to take to work too.  I don’t want to have a lot up at my desk, because there is lots of possibility of moving teams, which means moving around, but I wanted a few pictures of my favorite people.  I also put up my Christmas decorations, at home and at work,

Speaking of Christmas decorations, Jasper loves licking the Christmas tree.  Every night after dinner, he sits on the couch and licks and bites a branch or two of the Christmas tree.  I push him away, and he comes right back.  He hasn’t knocked it over though, so that’s good!

Saturday, I wrote out all of my Christmas cards, and wrapped all the gifts I have so far.  Everything is done except for the packages that are on their way to my apartment! Christmas is going to be such a relaxing and fun family time this year; I’m so excited.

Sunday morning I ran the Great Santa Run 5k, which was a lot of fun! I was so happy to end my year of races on such a great note.

Last bit of news, this post is my 200th post on My Brave Wings!! I really never imagined this blog would stick and I would be blogging so regularly! Who could have imagined!! Have a great week, friends!!

Christmas Decorations

Happy December!! It’s time to decorate for the holidays!  My short little Thursday post today is about decorating for Christmas!  Since I’m on my own this year, I don’t have a lot of room, or a lot of Christmas decorations, but I went ahead and put my tree up last night!  Let’s guess how many times it gets knocked over by Jazzy… I’m guessing 6 times…

I also decorated my little countertop with my “new to me” Santa that used to be Grandmas.  Grandma used to have hundreds of Santas out for Christmas, and Mom has had lots of Santas too. It’s about time that I have a Santa figure of my own.

I’m also gearing up to write out some Christmas cards this weekend, and hopefully wrap some gifts too!  Only 3 short weeks until Christmas!

Lastly, I brought a few small decorations to work this morning to put around my desk.  Everyone at the office has lots of holiday spirit, which is wonderful!

Happy Christmas and Merry Holidays to everyone!
