Thursday Thoughts: March 19

To make up for last Thursday’s short post, today’s Thursday Thoughts is extra long! Maybe not extra long, but definitely longer than last week, and I have a lot of pictures to share!

I went home over the weekend to spend some quality time with family.  Mom was a bit under the weather, so I ran with my best girl on Saturday, which happened to be PI DAY!  Shay and I ran 3.14 miles in celebration.  Sunday I ran 5 miles, then picked Shay up for another 2 miles.  Happy Birthday to Shay, who turned 9 years old yesterday!Photo Mar 14, 9 52 19 AM

Later on Pi Day, I went to lunch with Mom and my aunt Leann and cousin Ava, and of course, we had pie for dessert.  Delish.  After lunch and pie, Ava and I went and got pedicures.  Ava was even lucky enough to get a mini-manicure.  We had a fun afternoon of pampering and girl talk, and got a snowball also!

My Running Buddy Pouch came in the mail too this past weekend! Running Buddy was awesome enough to send me a complimentary Buddy Pouch, and I accepted their request to become a Brand Ambassador for them.  I truly love their product, and I’ll be sure to write a post this weekend about the company and my ambassadorship.  You can read my review of the Running Buddy Pouch here, and check out their website here.

While I was home for the weekend, I seemed to acquire a little orange and white shadow named Gordon  This little one followed me around and slept with me all night on Friday night, and for a bit of the night Saturday night.  He likes to burrow and snuggle under blankets or in between pillows.  He sure is adorable.

I missed Jasper while I was in Hays, but James sent me a few pictures to make sure I knew he was ok.  I love when he turns his head upside down, his little fangs hang out in the most adorable and deadly way.

After I got back to KC, Jazzy was sure to sniff all over my shoes to see where I went while I was in Hays.  Notice my sweet new Adidas Ultra Boost shoes! I bought them (partially) with my gift card that I won from the KC Running Company Martin City Groupie run night a couple weeks ago.

On Tuesday night, I went to the speed workout at KC Running Company. It didn’t turn out to be much of a speed workout for Amy and me, because Amy was a badass and ran a trail half marathon last weekend and was still recovering, and my right glute and right hamstring have been giving me some trouble the last couple weeks.  We ended up running at a nice tempo pace, a bit faster than we are used to, but definitely the progression run that was on the schedule.  That’s just one more reason I love KCRC, they are SO accepting, encouraging, and AMAZING!  Read my other reasons why I love KCRC and the Groupies here.

I also have some throwback pictures to share today.  These are from WAY back.  The top left is Michelle, me, Bethany, and Elise, at homecoming (I think) our Freshman or Sophomore year.  The top right is from middle school or high school (?) from a band trip to Estes Park.  I also found all of their senior pictures (L to R Michelle, Bethany, Elise) while packing up some boxes the other night.  We all look so young, so innocent!

Last night, I made it back to yoga after missing a couple weeks, and it was a tough class.. kicked my butt!  Tonight, I’m going to the Groupie run with KCRC, and Iron Tribe Fitness is incorporating some crossfit training into the run.  That should be fun, I’m sure I’ll feel it this weekend!

Did you celebrate Pi Day or St. Patrick’s Day?

Thursday Thoughts: February 26

Last weekend, James and I drove home to visit family for the weekend.  We had to drive through sleet and rain for about an hour, then it was clear roads all the way home! Mom and I were able to get out Saturday late morning for a run with Shay.  The weather was gorgeous for February, and we had a great run, just like old times.  Shay wasn’t having anything to do with the picture before our run, she wanted to run and chase squirrels!  After our run, we got pedicures at the beauty school, which felt amazing, and now I have pretty pink toes for spring, if spring ever decides to arrive.  I do love my Shay; I miss being able to run with her and Mom on a daily basis.

One of the most exciting parts of the weekend was getting to meet this handsome little fellow, Gordon.  Mom and Dad adopted him a couple months go, and he’s been ornery and playful and adorable.  He’s about 9 or 10 months old, and he is so playful!

I was also coerced into buying girl scout cookies by the cutest and most persuasive girl scout I know.  I bought cookies on Saturday, and they are gone already.  Crazy how addictive and yummy those things are.

We visited Grandma and Granddad, and Grandma shared her chocolates from Valentine’s Day with us.  She go the biggest box of chocolates ever.  Notice how she is eating them from the bottom right hand corner up to work her way through the box.

I found this gem of a photo while looking through old pictures with Ava over the weekend.  Talk about a zumba #throwback!  I rocked that front row back in the day.  Miss my zumba days with Michelle, Mom, Maja, and the gang.

We came home Sunday afternoon, and though we missed watching the Oscars on Sunday, we watched them Monday night.  For the first year in many, James and I didn’t bet who would win each category.  I’m pretty sure I’ve won the last 5 years, at least!  Jasper was happy to have us home, I like to think he missed us while we were gone.  I know I missed him.

After a not-so-great run on Monday, I missed running Tuesday due to a Dentist appointment.  I was able to make it to the Groupie run tonight, and test-ran in some Adidas Ultra Boost shoes.  They are cushy and responsive, I liked them quite a bit. The wind sure was cold on the run tonight though, I’m glad we ran into the wind the first half, so I had a tail wind on the way back.

It’s supposed to snow 3-6 inches this weekend, we’ll see if it actually does.  House of Cards is released tomorrow, and I’m sure James and I will be watching most, if not all, of the episodes within a few days.  If it snows, it’ll be a great opportunity to binge watch them.  We are still working our way through Sherlock too, we are ready for Season 3.  It’s been a great show to watch, we are in love with the show and Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman‘s performances.

Have a great weekend, and if it snows, be safe!  Best of luck to my sister who’s running the Little Rock Half Marathon this weekend!
