Happy 5 year RUNNIVERSARY to me!
5 years ago, I took my first steps as a runner. If I remember correctly, I ran 1 whole minute, 6 times, with a decent amount of walking in between. I’m so glad I made that decision to lace up my shoes and give running a try. I had tried to run before, but always got defeated. 5 years ago, my mind was in the right place, and my body was ready to push. My journey may have developed slowly, but I am so grateful I am able to run and am continuing my journey.
In the 5 years I’ve been running, I’ve done 12 half marathons, 1 duathlon, and countless 5 and 10k races. I’ve met some of the most wonderful people who are so dear to me. I’ve run happy, I’ve run angry. I’ve solved many issues by running and breathing and being in the run. I’ve run to heal a broken heart, and I’ve run to fall in love again. I’ve had several injuries and setbacks, but more importantly, I’ve gained so much confidence and life through running. Without the ability to run, and without having my running life as a daily part of my life, I don’t know who or what I’d be. So happy runniversary to me; I can’t wait to run to celebrate tonight!
Here’s to the next 5 years, and more!
