The September Run Down

September is in the books, and what a great month it was! I finished September with 89 miles; that brings my yearly total up to 756 miles.

I am right on track to reach 1000 miles for the year, and I’m so excited about it!  I need to average 81 miles for the remaining 3 months of the year to reach 1000, and I’m confident that if I can stay healthy, I will reach my long time goal of 1000+ miles in a year!  Catch up on my previous months’ recaps here: January, FebruaryMarch, AprilMay, June, July, and August.

I had the tremendous honor of spectating Kristen during her first full Ironman in Wisconsin in September, which was an amazing experience.  I got a couple easy runs done in Milwaukee while we were visiting, which is always great. I love running around Lake Michigan, it’s just gorgeous.


I had several great runs with great friends in September, and ran with the KC Running Co. Groupies twice.  Several of my weekday runs have been longer, especially in the last couple weeks of September, since the weather had been cooler.  I only made it to 1 cycle class in September, between being out of town for a few of the classes and having other things come up during other class times, I only made it to one class! I did have a couple bike rides, including biking around Madison while spectating Kristen’s Ironman.

My longest run was 9 miles, training in preparation for the two half marathons I have coming up.  I’ve built up my mileage steadily over the last few months, and have had some really strong long runs to help boost my confidence for these halves. Side note: Chris has also been building up his mileage, and has been doing so amazing with his runs, especially since just picking up running  again less than 6 months ago!


I ran 1 race in September, the KC Zoo Run 4 miler, with some coworkers.  It was a very warm run, but it was cool to run through the zoo.  I’d definitely recommend this race as a race to walk and enjoy!


Looking forward to October, I have 1 half marathon, the KC Half Marathon, in 2 weeks.  I’m really excited to run 10 miles around Hays this weekend; it will be a little tour de Hays, on foot!

September Run-Down:
Running: 21 runs, totaling 89 miles.
Cycling: 1 cycle class, 30 minutes, plus 2 bike rides, totaling 22 miles.
Longest Run: 9 miles, Septmber 25.
Races: KC Zoo Run 4 Miler
