Monday Mentionings: June 20

Hello and Happy Monday! I have a very short MM today, because I actually didn’t take a single picture from last Tuesday through Friday! I was very busy with work once I got back from Milwaukee Monday evening, and the week just flew by!

Saturday, I met up with a friend in Lee’s Summit, she and I used to work together.  We had lunch and caught up a bit.  Of course, we forgot to take a picture.  Later, I met up with Amy and Joshua for a bit of shopping.  I climbed up into this jeep thing at Scheels to take a pic with my best little buddy.

Sunday morning, Amy and I ran 7 miles with the Groupies, early, before it got too hot.  It was still warm, and we were lucky enough to run through some sprinklers, and at the end, we were rewarded with cold icy towels.

I signed up for my very first duathlon this past weekend too! It’ll be July 10, at Shawnee Mission Park.  I bought a bike rack for my car, so that I can easily take my bike to the duathlon and other places to ride.  Yesterday, I wanted to make sure I kind of knew what I was doing, and set it up and took my bike for a little car ride to test it out.  Have you ever done a duathlon or triathlon? Any tips for this first timer?

Yesterday was Father’s Day (Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there!), and I was looking through some old pictures of Dad and me.  I found these two from Royals games way back in the day.  The one on the left is from 1989, and the one on the right is from 1999.

Last evening I got some really sad news.  Our family’s dog, Shay, died last night.  She had been struggling with an injured back leg and was in quite a bit of pain with it, and very quickly, it became very swollen this weekend.  After a trip to the vet, cancer was found in her bones and in her lungs.  She was my girl, and I was her girl.  Everyone in our family was very close with Shay, we all had a strong connection.  She was my running buddy, my best girl.  I’m beyond sad that she’s no longer here, but I’m so thankful for the time I had with her.  She was the best dog, and for 10 wonderful years, she made my life, and everyone she came into contact with, happier.  She exuded joy, and I’m so very grateful she was a part of my life. This was the last picture I took with her, from when I was home over Memorial Day.  Rest well, puppy, and chase after all those squirrels.
