Let’s talk pumpkin spice.
Pumpkin spice is seemingly the spice of choice from labor day until after Thanksgiving. Now, let me just tell you up front, I have never had a Pumpkin Spice Latte. A PSL. GASP! THE #1 pumpkin spice item… and I’ve never had it. I like pumpkin as much as the next person, but it’s the coffee I don’t like. I do plan on getting a chia tea at Starbucks before the PSL season is over, and I will ask them to add some pumpkin spice. So there. That being said, for today’s Thursday’s Three, I’d like to share my top 3 pumpkin spiced items, and the worst of the worst pumpkin spiced items.
The best pumpkin spiced items, in my humble (and non-PSL liking) opinion: 1. belVita Pumpkin Spice breakfast biscuits. I love belVita breakfast biscuits, and when I saw these limited edition pumpkin spice biscuits, at first I rolled my eyes. But then I decided to jump on the Pumpkin Spice bandwagon this year and bought my first (but not last) pumpkin spice item of the year. And then I tried them. Delicious. The pumpkin isn’t overwhelming, and the flavor tastes natural. The flavors I tasted most were cinnamon and nutmeg, which I love. I will definitely be purchasing a few more boxes of these. 2. Pumpkin Bread. I love love love sweet breads. And just bread in general. I like banana bread, zucchini bread, blueberry bread, cinnamon bread, and, of course, pumpkin bread! I like pumpkin bread better than pumpkin pie, even. 3. Philadelphia Pumpkin Spice Cream Cheese. This, I have not bought… yet. I will though. I am not a huge cream cheese lover, I prefer peanut butter or butter on my bagels, but this spiced cream cheese sounds so yummy. Again, I think it’s more the cinnamon and nutmeg that will draw me to this cream cheese spread. I’ll definitely let you know how I like it!
And now, the worst pumpkin spiced items, in my opinion. 1. M&M’s Pumpkin Spice Latte. Um, gross. M&M’s are supposed to be chocolate, and maybe a peanut. I admit, I haven’t bought these, but even the Brown M&M on the package is giving the PSL M&M’s the side eye. What can that tell you? Leave the M&M’s alone, and just change the colors for the seasons, ie red and green M&M’s at Christmas, and pink and red M&M’s for Valentine’s Day, etc. No weird flavors are needed! 2. Pumpkin Spice gum. Again, GROSS! Gum is supposed to be minty or fruity! I haven’t bought any pumpkin gum, but it is just wrong. Just, no. 3. Pumpkin Spice Peeps. First of all, peeps shouldn’t be a thing. Peeps are disgusting marshmallowy sugary lumps of poo. Then add a fake tasting pumpkin spice flavor? Gag me, please. No way on earth that I’m buying peeps when they are “normal” flavored, let alone pumpkin! Make peeps go away, please!
