I’d like to start a weekly (or mostly weekly) post on Thursdays, called Thursday’s Three. With America’s birthday coming up this weekend, I thought I’d start my first Thursday Three with 3 of my favorite 4th of July festivities!
I enjoy celebrating the 4th of July with family and friends; I enjoy fireworks, and BBQ’s, parades, and pool time, but there are three things I love about our America’s Independence Day…1. Red White and Blue pride! I love seeing flags out in front yards, it is one o my favorite things ever. Seeing the American flag proudly displayed on someone’s porch or in their yard makes me feel proud to be an American. I wish more people had flags out more often than a few times a year.
2. The National Anthem, God Bless the USA, and America the Beautiful being played on the radio during the fireworks show. I get goosebumps every time I hear the National Anthem, and I have to choke back tears during God Bless the USA. In the town where I grew up, the local radio station always had a mash up of different songs that you can listen to in coordination with the fireworks show. At least a part of all three of these songs would always be in the show, and I always look forward to hearing them with the beautiful booms of the fireworks.3. Sparklers! I’ve always been a bit afraid of lighting myself on fire when I light a sparkler, but I also love them! It seems like every year I wave at least one sparkler around in the dark, and no matter how much older (and wiser?) I get, I’m always a bit scared of a spark hitting me or somehow lighting my clothes or hair on fire!
I hope you share your Thursday’s Three with me below! What are your three favorite things about the 4th of July?
