March Roundup

March is over, so it’s time to recap my March running numbers! Read up on January’s roundup and February’s too!

I accepted a challenge at the beginning of March, to reach 100 Miles in March, #100MarchMiles! Unfortunately, I came up a bit short, with a total of 93 miles to close out the month. I finished out the #100MarchMiles challenge today with 3 beautiful spring miles after work.  Compared to last month’s 55 miles, I ran many more miles this month, which makes me super happy!  It’s nobody’s fault but my own that I didn’t reach my goal.  I’ve had a very busy month non-runningwise, and skipped or shortened my runs on a few days, which likely accounted for my lack of 7 (or more) miles.

With this month’s 93 miles, I am currently at 238 miles for the year.  My main running goal for 2015 is to run 1100 miles, and I’m a tiny bit behind for the year, and will have to run 96 miles per month to reach my goal.  I plan to work very hard in the next months to keep my mileage in the 90-110 miles per month range.

I ran with the KC Running Co. Groupies 8 times. I did not have any races in March, but had several great long training runs.  My longest run was 9.5 miles with the Groupies on March 29, but my longest mileage in one day was March 22, when I ran 8 miles in the morning and 2 miles later in the evening, totaling 10 miles.  I went to Hays for one weekend and unfortunately, Mom was sick, but I had 2 great runs with Shay puppy! My best week was the week of March 16-22, with 24.25 miles.  I went to yoga 3 times, and have continued to work on a stronger mind and a stronger body.

Next month, for April, I will have 2 races, the Rock the Parkway 1/2 Marathon and the Trolley Run 4 miler.  I’m really excited to start going to races this sprig/summer!  How was your March?

Thursday Thoughts: March 26

Spring is officially here! And with Spring, my allergies are starting to flare up.  I’m hoping they aren’t as bad this year as they were last year.

Last week, I stopped by World Market and bought this beauty.  I love him to pieces, I took him to work and he sits proudly on my desk.

For Throwback Thursday, I present my pothos plant that I have at work! The picture on the left is from when I first got him, almost 3 years ago when I started working for the State.  He has grown and grown, and is pretty huge now.  I need to re-pot him this spring or summer probably.  Side note: I notice that I call all my plants “he” or “him.”  My plants are all apparently male.

Last Sunday, I attempted to run 8 miles.  From my apartment, I ran north on State Line all the way to 435, which is 4 miles, then stopped at the Quick Trip to fill up my water bottle, and turned around and ran back.  Unfortunately, there are tons and tons of hills on that route, which is exactly why I wanted to run it, but it was H. A. R. D.  I had to walk up at least part of the hills.  Later that evening, I went out and ran 2 more miles, so I covered 10 miles total on Sunday.  I was pretty happy overall, but I wish I wouldn’t have had to walk.  This weekend, I’ll attempt to run 10 again on Sunday, with the Groupies.

Countdown is on for the Rock the Parkway Half Marathon! It is in 2 weeks!!

Way back in January, I found this little “Nesise Ladle” online, and fell in love! Well, I placed an order, and it came this week! It is just perfect and adorable.  You can buy it here, it’s currently backordered until June.

James took a couple adorable pictures of Jasper yesterday.  He likes to curl up on my pillow and sleep.  He’s basically like a little angel, with claws.

My running buddy Amy and I talked last week about running the Heartland 10k series, which is 3 10k’s in August and September.  I went ahead and signed up for it, and can’t wait!  The races are the Dot to Dot 10k on August 29, the Plaza 10k on September 13, and the Broadway Bridge 10k on September 20.  I ran the Plaza 10k last year, and loved it.  I can’t wait to do this series this fall.

Happy 1 Year Blogiversary!

Happy 1 year blogiversary to me!  One year ago, I posted my very first post to this blog.

I’m really happy in the growth I’ve had over the past year, not only in the readers, but in myself.  I have started blogs before, and none of them have ever lasted more than a month or two! Granted, I did put money into this blog, and have put more work into starting it than my other failed attempts, but at the end of the day, I’m happy to have made it to 1 year!

Here’s to another year of running and blogging!  Thanks for sharing in my journey!
