On Sunday, I ran 8 miles with the KCRC Groupies, specifically with my new running buddy. After the run, we were talking, and decided to sign up for the Hospital Hill Half Marathon, which is coming up in June.
Apparently, the Hospital Hill run is 42 years old this year, making it the oldest race in KC. During the KC Half Marathon last fall, we got to run up the “hospital hill,” and it wasn’t fun. So why would I want to run the hill again? I want to conquer that dang hill!
The Hospital Hill Half Marathon will be my 4th Half Marathon ever. I have 3 half marathons on my schedule now for 2015, which I think is the perfect number to keep me working hard and making progress (read about my training for the half marathon distance here).
I’m keeping this in mind as I build my mileage in preparation for the Rock the Parkway Half Marathon in April. Slow and steady wins the race, and by winning, I want to run it all without any walking. It’s about progress, not perfection, and I am feeling good about my goals!
What’s up with the weather in January? It was 60 degrees for my 4 mile run today. The sun felt so warm, I even wore a tank top! A tank top, in January!
My Half Marathons for 2015: Rock the Parkway Half Marathon is first, in just under 3 months. Then Hospital Hill Half Marathon is in June, just over 4 months way. This fall, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Vegas Half Marathon.
Let’s do this!
