Today is my running anniversary, or Runniversary! As of today, January 12, I have been running for 3 years! Back in 2012, if you would have asked me if I would be running in 2015, the answer would have been “pssh, probably not.” I did not Resolve to run in 2012, I just decided one day (just happened to be in January), that I was going to run, and I was going to go about it differently than all the other times I had tried in the past. I downloaded an app on my phone called Couch to 5k, and started with Week 1 Day 1. 1 measly little minute of running, repeated 6 times, with 90 seconds of walking in between. It felt like I was going to die. 6 whole minutes of walking.
But I didn’t stop, I kept going, week after week, repeating some weeks until I felt ready to move on. In 2012, I ran/walked my first 5k, the Color Run, with Mom and Kristen. From then on, I signed up for 5k’s, kept running with Mom and with my Couch to 5k app, and the rest, they say, is history!
I’ve compiled some of my favorite pictures and memories from the past 3 years of running, including meeting new friends, my first half marathon, the KC half marathon, and my KC Running Company Groupies. I can’t wait to meet more running friends, make more memories, and run more miles than ever before!!
I celebrated my 3 year Runniversary by enjoying a wonderful rest day after my long run Saturday and a great recovery run Sunday. James and I went to Yogurtini, and I’ll be going to bed early! Happy Runniversary to me!
